Fun with Striping tape!

Hello All!

First let me preface this by saying that I don't have some epic mani that I spent hours on, it's a simple striping tape mani that I did a few weeks ago, simply because I got inspired!

And who inspired me?

This post from the Manicurator! Amazing isn't it?? I love her nails, and her swatches and her nail art and the Lady herself, Victoria is amazing!

So for this mani, I used a base coat of aEngland's Perceval, which I had been wearing for a few days, and then taped off small sections on my nails using striping tape that I got from the Born Pretty Store!

After my fingers were all taped off, (it looked pretty funny mind you!) I used Gosh Holographic Hero and painted in the bottom and second from the top Square, I used butter London Fishwife for the third square and Milani's Black swift for the top!

Pretty nifty ehh? Also, a great way to get rid of untrieds!

I took off all the tape, topcoated and Voila!

What do you all think? I liked it! :D I wore this for several days!

aEngland Perceval

Hello All!

I apologize for the lack in posts lately, the holiday season is really busy at my work, and it is just starting to pick up, so I am going to be pretty busy with that. I already feel stressed and our big day hasn't even happened! So, I hope all of you have been doing well? I missed blogging and doing my nails, but I've been so busy lately, everything seems to go by the wayside!

Yay for real life.

Anyways, onto the polish!

As you will see I have made a bit of a change here at Munchy's Nails, my pictures will now have a black background! Woo! I think it makes things look much cleaner.

Okay, today we have aEngland's Perceval which is a bight red shimmer. It's so beautiful! I usually don't like red, but this polish is such a stunner, and it went on amazing as well. Two easy coats and I was done!

Also look how long my nails were! (I cut them down a few weeks ago.) This is pretty much as long as they have ever been! I was so excited, until my ring finger nail broke and I had to chop them all down.

What do you all think of the black background?? And what do you think of this amazing polish? Breathtaking isn't it? Perfect for all those holiday parties! I hope you all have a great day!

Smitten Polish!

Hello All!

Today I have some amazing Smitten Polishes for you! I love Smitten Polish and the creator of them is so sweet and nice! I seriously want to own all of her polishes they are so amazing!!

Today, I have two for you, You're turning Violet, Violet and Pure Imagnination! Don't you just love the names? I love Willy Wonka so much, especially the new one with Johnny Depp. And every time I see Pure Imagination, I start to sing the song in my head.. (Come with me, and you'll be.. in a world of pure imagination!)

Anyways, let me preface this, but saying, pictures cant not even come to to capturing how amazing these polished were! They are packed with Hologrpahic glitter, and so every time you turn your nail, you are nearly blinded by the rainbows on your fingers.. The pictures however do not show that :(

You're Turning Violet, Violet, is a purple jelly filled with holo glitters! It went on super well, and I had no trouble at all with application. It did take a few layers of top coat to get it smooth though, so be warned! And Pure Imagination is Holo Glitters in a Blue base!! Super amazing as well, and there was no application problems!

Mint Polish: Swatches and Review!

Hello All!

I am so sorry that posts have been so sporadic lately! Things are getting pretty hectic at work, it's starting our busy season, so right now posts might be a bit on and off, but I am trying to get them out for you!

Now, today I have some fun polishes for you from Mint Polish! They are a fun new nail polish company that is committed to keeping our nail polish toxic free! And what is better than that? Who wants harsh chemicals on your nails? I know I don't!

Now enough of me blabbering on, let's get to the most important things!! The swatches!!

First up we have Original Mint, which is a Mint Green Creme. I love this color! It's so unusual, and it's super flattering on my skin tone. It was a little bit finicky as most light colors are, but I only needed three coats to even it out, and it has a natural shine too it!

Below is three coats of Original Mint, with no top coat.

Next up we have, Lavender Macaroon which is a beautiful pale purple cream. Let me tell you, this polish went on amazingly! It was almost a one coater. Which is shocking for such a light color! But the application was flawless, it was smooth and easy and I had no trouble with it at all. Not to mention, look at that color? Isn't it amazing? It leans slightly more pink in real life..

The Below is two coats of Lavender Macaroon with no top coat.

And last but not least we have Ribbon Dancer! Ribbon Dancer has a magenta jelly base that is packed with silver glitter. This polish was so sparkly, the pictures do not do it justice at all.  The formula was good, it was a bit sheer, but it built up nicely, and was opaque in three coats. You don't want to miss out on this polish, it was seriously amazing, one of my favorites!

The below pictures are Three coats of Ribbon Dance and no top coat.

Cult Nails: Tulum

Hey all!

So, a few months ago The wonderful Cosmetic Sanctuary and Set in Lacquer had an epic Indie Giveaway, and I was lucky enough to win one of the Prizes, one of my very first Cult Nails!

This is Tulum, A nice brown/cafe latte color with gold shimmer! It's a perfect neutral! And the Gold shimmer in it gives it that extra little kick.

The application on this was.. perfect! I am not kidding, I have never had a polish go on so easily and smoothly, effortlessly.. I was fully stunned by it. It's sad that I don't much like the color. I'm not really a brown person.

What do you all think of it?? Have you ever had a polish that went on amazingly? If this is how all Cult's are.. I might need some more!

Sally Hansen Swatch Time!!

Hello All,
I have some Sally Hansen Polishes here for you to enjoy! Sally Hansen actually started off my Obesssion with nail polish! My very first nail polish I picked up over a year ago, was Sally Hansen's Xtreme wear in Blue-it! Not surprising that I picked up a blue polish first eh??

I love all of Sally Hansen's polishes, and though they are cheap, they are super good quality. Them and Sinful's started out my polish obsession, and I will always have a special place in my heart for them!

Now then,

Onto the polishes shall we?

This is Sally Hansen Complete Manicure in Black Platinum! It is a black with a multicolored shimmer that runs throughout the polish, it is very pretty! However, for a black, it was super sheer. It needed four coats.. you, you heard the right.. 4 coats, and even then it still wasn't fully opaque. Thankfully the application was super smooth! I know the shimmer looks silver, but there were so many colors in there, just the silver turned up on camera :(

Next up is Cherry Cherry Bang Bang, which despite the name is actually, a lovely magenta jelly! It leans more pink in real life.  I was pleasantly surprised when I put it on, as you all know how much I love jellies! The formula was good on this one, and it went on super smooth and easily!

Despite it's jelly like quality, it only needed three coats to become opaque! So maybe it's a crelly? Whatever it is, it's beautiful!

Next we have, Back to the Fuchsia! Which is a lovely bright pink polish with a stunning blue shimmer! You can actually see the shimmer on my nails, it was super bright and wonderful and blue!! I know we all want those blue polishes with pink shimmer, but now here is the opposite, and I love it! I want more of them!

This polish was a bit sheer, and the below pictures are about 4 coats, but thankfully, it went on super smooth and easy!

Now we have, Sally Hansen's Hidden Treasure, sadly, it is not the wonderful flakie top coat we all knew and loved and wanted, (I still don't have it!) This is the new one, a pinky-green shimmer that I doubt would ever be opaque on it's own. It would probably be best to layer this over a darker color. I used five coats in the below pictures and you can still see VNL. It's Model's Own, Indian ocean all over again!

Thankfully it went on pretty easily!

And last, but certainly not least, is Sally Hansen's Xtreme wear in Mint Sorbet! This is a beautiful light mint/honeydew color and I loved it! It did have a bit of a tricky application though, as most light colors do! It was a bit streaky and thick, and I even had to redo a nail cause it wasn't working so well.

But it turned out in the end, and I loved this color! So it's all worth it! What do you think?

So what do you all think? Which colors were your favorite??

Essie Polishes from the fall collection!

Hello All!

Goodness, it's November already! Geeze where has the time gone! Soon, it will be winter! But we still have a month of fall to get through, and so... here is some Essie Polishes from their Fall Collection!

First up we have Don't Sweater it! Which is a lovely mauve creme! This baby was almost a one coater! If I had been a bit more careful, I could have gotten it there! It had really lovely application, and it went on super smoothly and easily! No problems at all. The color is really pretty too, it's a great neutral color and totally work appropriate.
I used two coats of Don't Sweater it, with no top coat.

Next up we have, Skirting the Issue, which is a really lovely Deep red jelly! I was super thrilled when I put this on, as we all know how much I love Jellies. (If you didn't know that, you do now!) This was a great dark color and it went on well. Sheer, but build-able  and perfect for Jelly Sandwiches; You might want to layer this over something if you don't like  a Visible Nail Line (VNL) But it doesn't bother me, so I left it alone. And also so you guys could see what it looked like on it's own.

I used Four Coats of Skirting the Issue, with no top coat.

I want to note that under my nails are not dirty. It was the light, and the polish making it look that way. Honestly!

Next up is Stylenomics, which is a deep green creme. I know it looks black in the pictures, but it really is a deep green.  For the life of me I could not get it to photograph correctly.
The polish went on well, and I had some slight bubbling issues, but it wasn't bad at all. It was a tiny bit thick, but other than that, it went on perfectly.
I used two coats of Stylenomics and no top coat.

And there you have it, three polishes from the Essie fall collection. Which one was your favorite? I really liked Skirting the Issue.

You can find Essie Polishes at your drugstores, as well as Target, Wal-Mart and Ulta.
I hope you have a great day.

Zoya Ornate Collection Part Two.. The Holo's!!

Hello All!

Now we come to the next part of the Zoya Ornate Collection, and in my opinion, the best part! The glass fleck holo's!! I will have Storm, Blaze and Aurora for you, and be warned, this post in rather pic heavy, seeing as I took some blurred shots to show you how amazing these polishes are!!

Enough of my jabbering! Onto the amazingness!!

First up is Storm! Which the Zoya Website describes as a full coverage, holiday black with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter.  It is certainly an amazing black!!
When I first got the Ornate collection, I put this one on right away! It is.. amazing! The holo glitter is more like glass fleck holo!! I also wore it for several days, and had no chips and barely any tipwear! It goes on smooth and easily and is opaque in two coats! I can not tell you how much I love this polish!

Look at that blurred shot? Isn't it to die for??

Okay, Next up we have Blaze which the website describes as a full coverage, cool-toned medium mulberry red with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter. It is definitely not a full red, I think I would describe this more as a raspberry color than a true red, whatever it is though, it is amazing!

The holo is a bit more subtle in this one, it's super gorgeous and just right for any party!
Application was a breeze and the below swatches are two coats!

Last but Certainly not least we have Zoya Aurora, which the website says is a full coverage, medium sugarplum purple flecked with a high concentration of micro fine diamond holographic glitter.

Aurora certainly has the most holo glass flecks in it of all the three. It is very sparkly in the sun and the holo sometimes shows up in the shade! (I live in the land of clouds and rain, shade holos are very important!)

Aurora was a little bit more sheer than Blaze and Storm, I used three coats for full opacity.  But the application was amazing and it went on smooth and easy!

So what do you all think? Which ones do you like best? I think my favorite is Blaze, but I really do love them all! Zoya has truly outdone their selves with this collection! Though, I would love to see a dark blue with holo glass fleck glitter!! (Please Zoya?? I have the perfect name!! Thea!!)

You can find Zoya Polishes Here! And they sell for $8.00!

Hope you enjoyed reading!
